consequences of mineral deficieny in health

by sydshahid
Dr Shahid has summarized his six principles of health in a very simple form. Simplicity sometimes may not be politically correct. Well... What is wrong if you get the message and decide to live until 100 - 125 years and longer; without ever having to see any health care provider (MD,DO, DC, NP, PA, DP, DD, OD, psychiatrist, psychologist, spiritualist etc); during all your long and healthy life? Moreover, you will live a life that is full of vigor, enthusiasm, happiness and contentment for 100-125 years and even longer.

What else can anyone ask for? Does it sound too good to be true?

Well… IT IS "too good" and IT IS "true".

Remember! Health is what "YOU" make of it. It is "YOUR" responsibility. Not your health care provider's.

Follow these six principles of Dr Shahid’s Preventive Health. Also known as "Preventive Healthy Life Style (PHLS)", and see the result for yourself. You be the judge. The best part of it is, "it won’t cost you a penny". It is all free. And

"YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO SEE ANY HEALTH CARE PROVIDER FOR AS LONG AS YOU LIVE."

As they say,

"One ounce of prevention is better than two pounds of cure."

So here are the six principles of holistic preventive healthy life style.

The basis of these six principles (holistic prevention) is already discussed in previous blogs. In summary these principles are,

Three do's, that you must do:

1. Eat Balanced Diet
2. Do a regular Physical Exercise (PE)
3. Rest (10-15 minutes) between daily hard work, every 2-3 hours; sleep (6-8 hours daily uninterrupted sleep) and enjoy frequent entertainments, holidays and recreations.

And three don'ts, that you must not do:

4. Don't smoke at all. Don't drink excessively and don't take any un-prescribed or unnecessary prescribed medications. In other words, don't poison your vital organs (brain, heart, lungs, liver and kidneys).
5. Don't over-eat or under-eat
6. Don't worry (worry is the worst enemy of physical, mental and spiritual health)

-------------------------------------------

Let us discuss these principles in detail. The first principle of preventive health is a balanced diet. It consists of three parts:

1. Proteins, Fat & Carbohydrates in right proportion.
2. Vitamins, Minerals, fibers (VMF)
3. Water and Oxygen

We have discussed Proteins, Fat & Carbohydrates in detail. We have also discussed the vitamins.

Now we shall discuss another important aspect of balanced diet, i.e. minerals, minerals deficiency and its consequences.

----------------------------------------------

consequences of mineral deficiency.

The theory that there is a greater risk for certain types of cancer and heart disease in individuals who suffer from sub-optimal levels of certain minerals in the body or a deficiency in some trace element like selenium is being increasingly supported by evidence garnered from various clinical studies done on human subjects. Factors different from soil mineral depletion can lead to sub-optimal intake of certain minerals and trace elements. Among these diverse factors, examples include the over processing of food stuffs, the effects of acid rain on soil and the excessive refining of food products.

While the human dietary requirement for most of the trace elements and essential minerals are at very miniscule levels, the great vulnerability of the human body to even a minute imbalance in the dietary intake of these minerals can be seen by comparing the total mineral intake of a human being per day - at about 1.5 grams per person, with the total intake of the major energy compounds like the carbohydrates, the proteins and the lipids - at approximately 500 grams per person daily.

The average mineral intake comprising just 0.3% of the total consumed nutrients per person belies their importance, in fact, the human body would not be able to utilize the 99.7% of all consumed foodstuffs if essential trace minerals were not consumed as well - this is because most of these minerals have specific roles in many enzyme systems necessary for digestion and regulation of the human body. For example, out of the total nutrients consumed, the mineral zinc forms only 0.003% - however, many biochemical pathways are dependent on the presence of zinc and enzymes may simply be unable to function without this trace element. Thus, a very negative impact on health can result even if just a tiny decrease in the total zinc intake occurs; this adverse reaction can be aggravated if the reduction in the intake of zinc is prolonged.

Some dieticians and certain medical professionals have increasingly discouraged people from consuming more than the Recommended Daily Allowances - RDA’s - of any of the trace minerals and vitamins, which they contend is present in sufficient quantities in the typical American diet - this is a contentious issue. This view is challenged by the results of numerous studies and clinical studies which have repeatedly shown, that many Americans and probably most do not get the RDAs for any of the vital minerals and some of the vitamins in the daily dietary intake. Therefore the need for general supplementation of minerals for most people is eminently advisable and practical.

The theory that supplementing with minerals or trace elements may aid in preventing different types of cancer, heart disease and even some forms of degenerative disorders is increasingly being supported by more and more evidence from clinical studies on human subjects. Further studies and trials will provide more clues to the importance of these trace elements and more clinical trials need to be conducted in the future. A medical revolution could be on the way as the major impact of well planned supplementation could potentially be of enormous benefit to humanity - as all the evidence garnered till now, still bears out a very positive impact on the use of such supplements.

A last note for the scientific minded reader, while most of these trace elements are often classed under the label of inorganic nutrients, the ultimate delivery form in the diet for some of the inorganic elements are chemical structures where the trace element is bounded to a molecule containing carbon. Such is the case for selenium and chromium.

-----------------------------------------------------

Nerxt we will discuss each mineral in detail.

He has special interest in Alzheimer’s illness. he has strong evidence that this tragedy can be delayed (if not prevented) for as long as 25 - 30 years and even longer, if one follows Dr Shahid’d six principles of health faithfully. He likes to make friends with those who have similar interests as his. He has few friends and they all appreciate what he is doing for humanity. He believes in positive thinking. In his opinion one must pursue those interests which make one believe in oneself. He loves to play tennis, table tennis and cricket if he can find time. Travelling is his other interest. He has travelled all over the world. He enjoys different cultures and their varied way of life. Lately world politics has become his passion. He wishes to see peace in the world but he doesn’t think it is possible because of the greed in the mind of most of the industrialised nations who are exploiting third world countries. He is also interested in writing a book about his Six Principle of Health (EUREKA). He is already in the process of making it happen. He wants the whole world to know his secret of healthy long life.

Dr Shahid: I am very much impressed with your blogs in wellness.com. I like your six principles of health (Preventive Holistic Lifestyle). I follow the basic preventive health principle what you have mentioned in your six principles. I find your principles extremely beneficial. Please continue writing. I love to read all your blogs. Lately you have been writing on “xenophobia”. I am completely mystified with the subject. It has captivated me. I will talk about it some other time. You certainly know what you are talking about.

I agree with you 100% that we are capable of living at least 125 years if we follow your six principles of health. I am convinced if people follow your principles (more religiously) than their religions, the chances are even better. In fact I rate your health principles above and superior to any known health remedy in human history. If US government makes your “Six Principles of Health” compulsory for every American, she does not need to waste money on Healthcare Reform.

I am 89 years old (turned 89 in June). I have never seen any health care provider (HCP) all my life for health concerns. Neither am I planning on seeing one for another 40 years, at least (hahaha). I have been following preventive health principles (what you have described in your six principles of healthy lifestyle), religiously for over 65 years. In fact my religion is “fitness”. I still claim to have all my teeth (my own teeth), and I am in perfect health.

One of my pastime is gym (not my favorite though). Yet I am a fitness freak. I also love jogging, swimming and dancing. I believe to stay fit one must be able to take some pain (physical exercise). As they say, “No pain no gain”.

My blood pressure (BP) ranges between 100-120 systolic and 60-80 diastolic. You may call it the healthiest BP for longevity. I eat lot of fruits and raw vegetables. I do not go to McDonalds, KFCs and other fast food junk restaurants. I never take any vitamin supplements. I never smoke, though drink on rare social occasions. I love to laugh and enjoy life. My best pastime is either reading preventive health journals or comic magazines. As I love to laugh, so I watch TV programs like "Just for laugh, Gags". I think it is really a good comical program. It makes me laugh and laugh for hours even after I finish watching it. I still love to watch Marx Brothers’ movies from time to time. Oh they do bring back good old memories. I agree with you laughter is the best remedy for any kind of stress in life, other than my 7th principle of health.

People always ask me what is secret of my health.

Well I have to share with you my secret. Other than the above six principle of your health, I follow two additional principles of my own. I think those two are the real secret of my good health.

7. One of those two is “SEXERCISE”. This is the most important one than all the rest of principles.

ronwilson   10/20/2009 7:43:27 PM

I was unable to post it all in my previous comment. So here is the rest of it.

SEXERCISE

This also brings me to my next favorite topic i.e. “My social life on socially forbidden topic, SEX.” Believe me at my age of 89 I still enjoy sex and love it.

I am a widower. I have an enviable social life with opposite sex. I do not suffer from any problem like what they call ‘erectile dysfunction”. At my age most people suffer from it (though they are ashamed to admit it). At least all my surviving (senior citizen) friends do. I do not take any Viagra because I don’t need to. In other words, sexually speaking, I don’t feel any different today than I used to feel during my younger years. I can still perform everyday. That is why I call it “Daily Sexercise”. I believe “good sex” and “hearty laughter” daily with understanding friends and loving partners is the best solution to all the health problems related to stress.

Unfortunately “SEX” is a forbidden topic in our society. It is primarily because of religion. I read your latest blog on religion. I think you should add this anomaly of religion in that too. It is sickening that religion has so much control on our sex life by creating so many taboos on sex. I believe sex is even more important as we advance in our age, than when we were younger. It is the best tranquilizer for any kind of stress that is precipitated by our ever-growing fast pace of life. The worries are endless as we grow older. I believe most of the worries (especially for older people) are caused by our social taboos on sexercise.

Religion is number one culprit in endorsing these taboos. Church gets the greatest benefit if we are not happy. Happy people (like me) never go to church. It is always the miserable ones who fall into their trap. Older folks who resort to church are bored people due to lack of sexercise in their life. Church loves to see these people guilty, depressed and unhappy. Church targets older people more because they have more money to throw away in order to get salvation in afterlife. By calling “sexercise” a sin church makes them more guilty and sicker; and brings them closer to grave. Most senior citizens are single (widowers or divorced) and don’t like to get married, but they still love to have sex. According to church sex is the greatest sin if one is enjoying it without getting married. Why should anyone get married just to have good sex? Isn’t that ridiculous?

Let me now come to my 8th principle of health. I must admit I have to add this principle with some reservations, because I want to be responsible to what I say. Remember folks, if you do not follow the 7 principles of health, I guarantee you, “you will be in HCPs’ clinics during all your short and miserable life.” And believe me you will need all the help you can from your HCP if it is hard for you to live a healthy life style in accordance with the 7 principles of health. Therefore, if you fall sick at any time, please do not hesitate to call at your HCP.

So bear in mind folks! My 8th principle of health only applies to you if you are following all the other 7 principles of health in all sincerity.

Here is my 8th principle of health.

8. Never see any health care provider (HCP), no matter what, for as long as you live.

Like many others who don’t understand this, you may laugh too. But I have good reason to say this. Here it is why? Once you read it you may agree with me.

1. I have many examples where people have gotten sicker after being to the office of a health care provider (HCP). I have no statistic on that but I find most victims are the regular visitors of HCPs. Once they fall into the trap of these quacks they never get out of it.

2. HCPs love to give you pharmaceuticals injudiciously. They believe medication (pill) is the answer to everything. They have brainwashed the public into believing this also. Little they know that they develop new problems after taking the prescribed medications.

3. If patient complain that he has developed new symptoms from the medications he took, he is prescribed new medications to counteract new problems. Now a vicious cycle has formed. More medications more new problems. Pretty soon he has whole formulary of unnecessary medications in his body but no health.

4. Never get any so called lab tests or diagnostic tests. They have false positive and false negatives which put you even in more trouble than what you are already in.

5. Medical, diagnostic, pharmaceutical and many other ancillary and paramedical industries are commercial. They are in it for making money. Believe me, they make huge sum of money. They are multibillion dollars (not million) industries. They never give you any advice to make you healthier. Their advice is to make you sicker so they make more money out of you.

6. The best way to stay healthy is to “Never see any health care provider”. They never tell you anything about health anyway. What they do tell you is all about sickness. They are trained about diseases and love to see you sick and unhealthy.

7. One more thing, health care providers never tell you about preventive health. It is counterproductive and dangerous to their pocket. Preventive health care will make you healthy like me. They don't want you to be healthy. Believe me I have many friends who say the same thing.

Let me emphasize again what I really mean so you are not misguided. My 8th principle of health only applies to you if you are following the 7 principles of health without fail. To be very frank with you, all health care providers need you more than you need them. They are in it for business. If you follow all the 7 principles of health, they will be out of business.

What seems more surprising to my friends is the fact that I have never taken any pill (medication) or any vitamin supplements all my life. On the other hand all my friends of my age (if they are still alive), are either in the nursing homes or are carrying bags of prescribed medications. They look terribly sick all the time because of these unnecessarily prescribed medications. They always envy my health. I am proud to say that I am physically, mentally and spiritually fit and it is all due to the 8 principles of health I have mentioned above.

Dr Shahid! I would like to have your permission to add my two principles (#7 and #8) to your six principles of health (if you may allow me to do so). Sorry for the length of it but I had to make a point.

I hope you agree with me. I would like to hear your opinion.

Thank you very much Ron for appreciating my blogs. I feel very much honored to have someone like you give me recognition of rating my health principles above and superior to any known health remedy in human history. I am flattered and feel dumbfounded. That is the best praise I have so for. Actually nothing I have said in my Six Principles is new. It has been said time and time again through out human history since Greek-o-Roman times.

First of all I must congratulate you on your ability to enjoy excellent health (and sex) in spite of your age. This is incredible. You have certainly proven the fact that age is only a number.

The other statement of yours that if US government makes my “Six Principles of Health” compulsory for every American; she does not need to waste money on Healthcare Reform; is a very true statement. I have no doubt that US government will save billions of dollars if she compels every employer to make it compulsory for every employee to have at least 150 hours/year devoted to fitness program. Such program should be offered free of cost to every employee. The dividends will be paid off in less sick leaves, less cost of health insurance and higher productivity.

I have to respond to your comments in three parts.

1. Sexercise
2. Religionism
3. your #8 principle of health

1. Sexercise.

I have already included sexercise in my #2 principle of health i.e. exercise. Exercise comprises three components i.e. physical, mental and spiritual exercise. Sexercise is a unique form of exercise that may constitute physical, mental and spiritual exercises all in one.

Sexercise is not only an excellent tranquilizer for all kind of stressful situations but also a wonderful way to have fun and enjoyment. Unfortunately, sex is the least understood subject of human psychology. There is very little research on it and practically we know nothing about it. Sex is one mystery that we always love to bury under the rug. If you ask the definition of sex to100 sexologists, psychologists, psychiatrists, sociologists, anthropologists and philosophers, you will get 100 different answers. I don’t claim to be an expert on sex but I agree with you that senior citizens have just as much right to enjoy sex as anyone else.

2. Religionism

You have blamed religion as the culprit behind not letting people enjoy sex. I beg to differ with you on that. No religion (in its true spirit) is against any form of enjoyment as long as it does not hurt any one and does not impinge upon the rights of others. Similarly, as long as sex is enjoyed by the consenting adults and no one gets hurt (physically, emotionally and spiritually), no religion has any objection to it.

Leaders of various religions, however, interpret their religions (bibles) differently. That is the reason why we have so many religions and even so many religions within the same religion. Any interpretation of religion by its leader is considered religionism (not religion) if it defines morality of sex based on leaders point of view rather than the point of view of the religion. Any religious leader who says that sex is sinful if enjoyed in or outside of marriage is only expressing his outdated point of view and does not know anything about his religion or anything about sex. Such religious leaders are termed religionists and are the cause of fourth evil of xenophobia as I have described them in religionism.

3. Your #8 principle of health

I absolutely agree with you Ron with slight difference of opinion on that. I have always said the same thing, but a little differently. Please read what I have been saying for long long time. And please read it carefully. Here it is what I have always said,

“Dr Shahid has summarized his six principles of health in a very simple form. Simplicity sometimes may not be politically correct. Well...What is wrong if you get the message and decide to live until 100 - 125 years and longer?”

Dr Shahid further emphasizes:

"If you follow these Six Principles of Holistic preventive Life style faithfully, you may never have to see any health care provider (i.e. MD, DO, DC, NP, PA, DP, DD, OD, psychiatrist, psychologist, chiropractor, spiritualist, homeopath, naturopath, herbalist and all the rest of HCPs) during all your long and healthy life;

“……Moreover, you will live a life that is full of vigor, enthusiasm, happiness and contentment for 100-125 years and even longer.”

I receive tens of emails everyday from people from all walks of life. Most of those are critical of me. Those critical emails are typically based on ignorance about human health. They are brainwashed by HCPs who talk about "disease" not health. They have good reason too, to emphasize disease. Health-care industries are not healthcare industries. They are disease-care industries. They are also multibillion dollars industries. Disease is a big business. It is much healthier to their pocket if they talk about disease rather than they talk about health. It is as simple as that.

Your email attracted me because it is unusual. So I thought everyone must read it because you are giving your 90 years of experience so realistically and candidly.

Again I beg to disagree with you on your statement that HCPs will become out of business if everyone follows my Six Principles of Health.

I have already given 22 reasons why HCPs will always be in demand. You have probably not read those yet. If you like I will blog those again for you.

In my opinion all HCPs are vital part of our health care system and are doing a great service to humanity.

sydshahid

P.S. by the way, Ron, I would advise to blog your message in your own blog so everyone can get the benefit from its experiential vision on health. You are saying something very unique. I think everyone must be enlightened by it.

Yes Dr Shahid,I think you must have given added those two of my principles but didn't have the chance to read. Please tell us in detail when you get the opportunity.

I took your advice and blogged myself in the regular blogs. Thanks or the advice
