The Importance of Produce
It may sound like old news, but it's common advice for a reason. It's so important to eat a diet heavy in fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants in fresh produce neutralize dangerous free radicals that contribute to a host of skin issues--premature aging, wrinkles, and discoloration.
Take for example, tomatoes. Tomatoes (actually a fruit) are chock full of lycopene, a bright carotenoid pigment found in red produce. Lycopene is important because it helps neutralize and even reverse sun damage. When tomatoes are cooked, lycopene is released in greater quantities.
