General America sold me an annuity twenty years ago when I was a teacher. I wanted to roll over the annuity into my IRA. I was told by the company that the fastest way to do this without a penalty was over five years. I decided to do this and choose annual payments over five years. I believed that they would start sending checks within a month. I then received a letter telling me that my first check would be sent A YEAR FROM NOW! This was never explained and cannot be changed. I want people to know that it is easy to put money in but hard to get it back!
