Well, I must say this was an experience...unfortunate not very good. When I first called to see if My insurance approved PCP Dr. Pacheco was indeed accepting new patients and I would actually be able to see her they stated I would. Not the case. I don't even think Dr. Pacheco was even at that clinic because when I would sign into the portal it stated that the physician was not located at that clinic. In addition, the portal would not function at all no matter whose name I entered. I was rushed through my first visit to establish care due to PA. Jennifer La having a meeting. It was very odd we were discussing my refills and the door slowly opened about six inches and not a word was said to the PA Jennifer La she just nodded the door closed slowly and PA La excused herself from the visit and left the room. To me this was just odd. I was able to get most of my needed prescriptions filled and my labs scheduled at their office on "Lab Day" done by Quest but not much else. My involvement in establishing care was minimal at the very least. Then I received a call stating that Quest did not perform the labs I needed they would send the request to LabCorp. I called Quest Corporate customer service, and they stated yes indeed they do the same lab work as any other lab. I have no idea what that was all about. Then I began receiving referral calls from physician offices that were out of network to set up appointments with specialist and estimates of out of pocket costs in the hundreds of dollars. At this point I still really haven't discussed my needs with the practitioner or received the initial consultation. Then came the second appointment. I arrived 45 minutes early and was taken in 10 minutes later giving me a 35 minutes early. Then comes in the nurse's assistant and stated that we have to move swiftly because she had over a hundred questions that needed to be answered and Pa La had a meeting. I was then rushed through the questions the nurses assistant excused herself and in came PA Jennifer La. I could not help but wonder why they are scheduling meetings during my appointments or were they scheduling my appointments during their meetings. So PA Jennifer La went over my labs quickly. When I asked her about certain results she became frustrated because she wasn't used to reading results from LabCorp just Quest. I then showed her which lab I had questions about and she told me. We quickly discussed medication refills and she stated she didn't care for one medication and stated two medications she wanted to replace it with I stated to her that those medications had already been tried and failed and that is why I'm now on this medication that is working. Before another word could be said the door opened about 6 inches again just odd and again not a word was said and PA Jennifer La nodded her head and looked at me and pointed at her watch and stated she was now a minute late for her meeting and she was reducing the dose on my medication that was working and adding one of the medications that we discussed that previously failed. At the same time offered me a flu shot stating those were the only vaccinations they had because their cooler went down. I declined. I wasn't in need of a stale flu shot. When I tried to interject about the medication change, she stated that we already discussed this and pointed to her watch again and exited the room.
This change would result in a negative medical incident. I don't even know how to process this experience except to say that at the very least I felt minimalized not just as a patient but as a person. In what world is this considered medical treatment?
