C. Ledford
Dr. Ledford received his bachelor’s degree from Baptist College at Charleston and his doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda. Dr. Ledford completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Ledford was the first cardiologist in this region to perform a percutaneous patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure on an adult patient. This implant is less invasive than open heart surgery thereby posing fewer risks to the patient. Dr. Ledford served for 22 years in the United States Navy receiving numerous awards. He has been published in professional journals and has been the principal investigator on several research projects.
