There are several ways in which I bring my decades of experience as a general internist to the care of people with cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Many of our patients have long-standing medical issues separate from their cancer diagnosis, for example. I and the more than 20 other physicians on the General Medicine Service that I currently lead help in managing these conditions before, during, and after surgery. We are at the bedside to consult with the cancer specialists when patients become acutely ill and hospitalized, monitoring and consulting on everything from blood pressure control to drug interactions and diabetes care.Services
