Rafid Mustafa, M.D., is a board-certified neurologist and Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic. He received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University and medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in Neurology at Mayo Clinic, after which he joined the faculty as a Neurohospitalist with interests in high-value care, quality improvement, and medical education.
Dr. Mustafa currently serves as the Quality Chair for the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic. His expertise centers around innovating models of care delivery, informing health policy and practice change, and transforming education by more meaningfully incorporating learners and patients into quality and safety initiatives at Mayo Clinic. His academic focus involves defining high value care for patients with neurologic disease, optimizing care processes, and expanding access, efficiency, and safety in relationship to patient care.
