I felt the compulsion to defend Dr. Fleming. I absolutely understand Fleming's point that eyes are not a commodity. I know many people who have opted for "the best price" or a "slick personality" as a criteria for eye surgery or treatment. Many of those people ended up with Dr. Fleming to fix the mess. I TRUST this man unconditionally. And trusting the medical professional is NOT something that I am known for! (BLOG: http://advocateyourself.blogspot.com) I always recommend Fleming as a 2nd opinion for people whose docs recommend surgery. You can do no better (I have lived in big cities and been to amazing facilities - Fleming is hands down the best eye doc I have ever met.)

Fleming should be proud of his background. I know that is what first drew me to him. And I LIKE his personality. Dry sense of humor and very caring.

If you want to save a penny . . . I would do it with toilet paper and not eye care!!

Fleming was visibly upset and unprofessional when he heard that I chose to undergo the lasik procedure with another physician. After he informed me that he would no longer be my eye doctor, he ranted and raved for 20 minutes on how "eyes are not a commodity." I was treated to an indepth review of his CV as he told me about his education at the 2nd best opthalological program in the country at UCLA and how Duke is ranked 8th. Repeatedly he mentioned that he is a patient advocate and that he is head of surgery at Western Wake hospital. This guy is unstable and I recommend that all potential patients go elsewhere for treatment.
