I was told flat out that the removal of overgrown cartilage in my nose would require general anesthesia 'and chisels up my nose'. When I reacted badly, there was absolutely no attempt to discover what my concerns were or any discussion of possible alternatives. I felt I was being talked down to like a bratty child who had dared to refused to do something reasonable and easy. When I responded, 'No, you will not.' to his repetitive insistence, I was arrogantly told, 'I'll see you in six months.'. No, you won't. I'll find an ENT who actually talks TO a patient, rather than issuing pronouncements from on high.
