I've gone to this office since I moved to The Shores as a child. After a while, my mother switched me and herself to another dentist after receiving an attitude from the staff. I ended up returning as a patient to this office and now as an adult I see why my mother would rather go without dental care than see them again. I have not been in their office since 2009 because of a lack of insurance, but at my last visit I learned my wisdom teeth were impacted. They weren't bothering me and I couldn't afford the procedure, so I forgot about it. They did begin to bother me a few months ago and so I decided to try to get in at Shands.

I call to have a referral sent to Shands, and I was told the woman in charge of referrals was out to lunch but would be notified and they would call me to confirm it had been sent. It was nearing 5PM and I had heard nothing from them, and I had originally called around 1PM. I received and attitude that "it took a while and we're busy". If that's the case, don't promise me a follow-up phone call.

Shands told em to call them in January to schedule a March appointment. I get a hold of them and they have no record of my referral. I call Marion Dental Group back and when I explained my situation the girl's first response was "We don't normally send referrals to Shands." Which is probably true. But I have no insurance and they're the only oral surgeon I can almost afford. After confirming that yes, I wanted my referral sent to Shands, could she please check it was sent, I was put on hold for a few minutes and she comes back with "*sigh* It was sent out November 14." "Well, they didn't get it, can you please re-send it?" I really didn't ask much of her, they really need to watch their mouths.

If i could give this office a negative star I would . I have been using Dr Bailey for several years now and my husband has used him for as long as he can remember we are happy with his service and compassion up until today when we arrived 7 minutes late for our appointment which my husband called and spoke with the staff 20 minutes before and advised them we were running about 10 minutes late he was told no problem, yet when we arrived we were told that we probaly couldn't be seen but that we could wait and see if they could squeeze us in. I was completey blind sided being that my husband was perscribed a strong sedative to take before the appointment and was on the brink of falling asleep. I had taken the morning off of work to drive him to and from the dentist. The doctor heard the confusion and took him right back where he extracted his tooth in 5 minutes and then charged us for a surgical extraction at $255.00 dollars. I am very disappointed with this visit and was recommending this place to friends and family but after this experience I would never go back to the Shores office. Dr Bailey is in my opionion a great doctor and I would recommend him, but stay away from the Shores Marion Dental Group!!!!
