They would never do that! Their full attention is always on me.

I was placed under Vanharen's care at Forest View Psych facility. From the moment we met he was cold, aloof, and insensitive.

After being lied to at intake (I was told I would be there a maximum of seven days, the following conversation happened on day eight) Vanharen was rude regarding my discharge. I explained (for the umpteenth time) that I would love to be home for a theatre production I had put my past few months into. He had no consideration for my compromised emotional state. "You don't actually think you're going home yet, do you?” he paused, "you're going to be here at least thru the weekend." he then stood and left.

After diagnosing me with three seperate struggles he looked at me saying, "well, you don't look like an eating disorder patient. Were you telling the truth abut your eating?" I was. In my final day of partial he weighed me. "Well, you've gained weight since you went home. And that's not good."

His bedside manner was cold, angry, and indifferent. He added to the psychological hurdls I've had to overcome in the year since I left his care. My experience with him proved to be so psychologically damaging that I can no longer recall his voice or face, though I saw it often for two weeks straight.
I remember a quotes so exactly, however, because they tore me down as a person and degraded my struggles.

I will never in good conscience be able to recommend Vanharen for anyone seeking treatment.
