I have found Dr. Vergilio to be pompous, arrogant, egotistical and not always correct in the information he provides or the follow-up he recommends. At my last encounter with him, he suggested elective gall bladder surgery, which I, as a medical school trained scientist disagreed with, as did the internist assigned to my case. I discussed with the internist the issue of Dr. Vergilio being on my case, and told him I did not have a very high opinion of him from our past encounters. I told him I had DREADED going to the ER because I knew I had a GI issue, and I was not happy with the prospect of possibly having to interact with Dr. Vergilio- which is exactly what happened. In addition, he billed my insurance for a day he did not see me in hospital, and for a day when he stopped for several seconds in my room, did not look at me, did not address me, stated that my labs were back and the values were up (when in fact they were down.) He then walked away. Stay away from this MD; get a reliable referral from your family MD or internist or another MD you trust to refer you to a competent MD.
