They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. Their staff was not friendly at all, I didn't feel welcome there. I feel like my appointment was pointless. None of my questions were answered, nothing was accomplished, and I felt worse when I left. This Doc. is negligent who sents us back to work with broken bones or a hernia. As of late we have witnessed men requiring surgery being sent back to work for lite duty. This Doc. is rude and unprofessional after being confronted with his inability to diagnose something as simple as a broken bone.

On March 16th I went to my appointment to see Joseph Ciuffo for follow up. I had previously seen his physician’s assistant on March 14th due to injuring myself at work on March 13th. During my visit he became aggressive when I gave him my other physicians documentation stating I should remain out of work and under his care until June. He was very angry and asked me why I went to see other physicians. I explained that my other physician is a specialist in the field of orthopedics and that I felt more confident that he would be able to improve my condition. He then asked me if I was taking the pain medication he had given me to improve my back. I told him no, that pain medication would not improve my back and would only hide the pain and make it that I injure myself further. I told him my goal was to get therapy and to decrease my muscle fatigue and pain in order to go back to work with no restrictions. He then told me I should quit my job and started to use profanity throughout the rest of the conversation – this was prior to his brief exam where he asked me to touch my toes. He asked me for my folder which contains my medical documentation, I refused. His unprofessional approach and aggression immediately had me lose faith in him as a medical doctor. He had none of my medical documentation to make any diagnosis yet told me to quit my job out of anger due to me visiting other physicians. He then escorted me out toward the reception area where I stood waiting. I asked him if there was anything else and he ignored me so I left the office and called my union representation to report what had happened. I refuse to go back to this office and be treated with hostility and disrespect. I have never been spoken to in this manner by any medical professional. I have a right as a patient to get a second opinion or be treated by a specialist of my choice. I did not need to hear that he chose his profession so he doesn’t have to hurt himself and that I should go get a different job in another field. I am considering reporting this man to the office of professional medical misconduct for his behavior and his failure to exercise the care that would be used by a reasonable prudent physician in the same situation. He is incompetent and negligent and clearly shows a lack of required knowledge to treat me.

I was given a polite greeting when I walked in. It was nice to be acknowledged. I spend a little too much time in the waiting room. I've waited longer at other offices, but I was hoping to be seen sooner. I would never refer any of my family and friends to go here. If I had know how terrible they were I never would have gone. One thing I don't like, is that I can't be confident that they'll work with me until they find the best solution for me. I'm always worried they're going to just settle with a solution that works.
