I took my daughter to Dr. Glaubach for counseling when she was in middle school. Dr. Glaubach was one of the few doctors in Seattle who was taking patients and children at that time. She was overly professional and quite cold. I was determined to help heal my daughter and perservered with these appointments. The doctor would occasionally have my husband and I come in to go over things. She would ask so many personal questions without any reaction. In the end I felt she completely eviscerated us. She left us feeling open and wounded. There were no words of encouragement to help us on the hard journey. We probably would have divorced had we come from that background. In the end many of our daughters problems stemmed from a head injury from when she was 3. Dr. G never addressed that. Dr. G is a cold fish for the business of taking care of people. I regret the time and money we spent with her.

We were referred to Dr. Glaubach. At the time there were very few psychiatrists taking children. She was fairly new to the area. There were conflicts in personality, but I thought I should hang in there for the sake of my child. I was always taken aback as her first question (or second) was usually asking for payment. Even though she may have billed insurance, you had to pay in advance. Her fee was extremely high for someone just new to practice. She charged more than psychiatrists I had called who had been practicing (and well known) for years, but they did not take children.

She fell asleep twice while we were in an appointment. I found her manner short and curt. She also was insistent on multiple visits per week, which increased our stress level, on top of school, homework, etc. It ended up being too stressful. We found a new psychiatrist who was more laid back, made a correct diagnosis after visits at Childrens' Hospital.

It's been a few years since we've seen her, but in the end I feel our decision to change to another psychiatrist who fit our child's personality and our goals was more important, and has proved a positive experience.

She has a different approach than psychiatrists I had previously visited.
