Mom sent there after being in the hospital. Visited her after she was there for awhile at my siblings request....Place was like a country club...wait, don't judge the book by it's cover.
Mom was in the dining room. Not eating as she was so drugged up she couldn't lift the spoon. I fed her. Left because she was falling asleep. Went back for a review with the nurses, director etc. She was on a list of meds so long I got weary of listening. They of course had high hopes. Doing well in physical therapy, oh did I mention she hadn't walked in years, of course they said she was standing for a few seconds and almost took a step. Hmm, wish I had been there for that.
Siblings getting concerend. Too many anti-dpressants. I stepped in. Told them to lighten the load. Of course they didn't listen. We kept calling. I got frustrated. Told them I had figured it out..their motto that is...drug em up, shut em up, f*** em up. Ok then...
They shipped her off to a psych ward...200 miles away without the family's consent. Said she, mom, new what she signed. Oh yea, lots of drugs. Said it was for evaluation cause she is so depressed. Oh did I mention that the Dr. at Stueben only shows up once a month and the physicians assistant makes all the decisions. Well now I have. Back to the other place, Still drugging her up, told them I want her out of there. I talk to mom on the phone, she wants to come home. I tell her put the nurse on on the phone and ask the nurse, "did you hear my mother tell me she wants to come home?" She makes no note of this and I get more grief the next day. Mom again repeats she wants to come home. I tell them I will have the police at their door. They send mom back to Steuben County Health Care.
She gets back. They won't allow my sister to pick her up. She has caused to much trouble. After hours of phone calls they let her, only she would have to pick her up in the parking lot with no assistance. Mom is 90 by the way, can't walk etc. Love these people. Made it to my house. Got all the prescriptions for her meds. All 11 of them. Didn't fill them all. To shorten this mom went in a different hospital. Came out with only 3 meds. None of them were anti-depressants. Seems mom had dementia.
Did I mention that my sister called the state on them. Don't bother doing that, they don't do a darn thing.
Don't let the smiling faces fool you there is more to this place then what meets the eye. It's a shame that the employees won't say anything for fear of losing their job.
Don't get old...I know we all will but after this experience I sure am going to come up with a new plan......
