I took my dog there in August 2010. The staff was friendly upon entering and while making payment. They seem to really care about the animals, however, my dog was not treated properly. The first issue noticed was that when we went to get our dog out of the crate he was shaking terribly. I thought he was pain from the surgery, and yes he was in pain, but it was because he had to pee. He stepped out of the crate barely so that all his feet were out of it, and then he peed for 3 minutes, and when we went outside he pooped instantly. Part of that was the fact he would not go to bathroom for us before we brought him in, but they should have taken him out. He was the very last animal in to be fixed, so he was the very last animal to be operated on. Later I recieved a letter from them stating that they release the animals bladders before operating while the animal is under. BULL! If so, he would not have peed for 3 minutes.
The next thing is where they injected my dogs rabies shot. They injected above his knee, in the skin but above his knee joint. The reason I could tell where they injected him was because he had a reaction to the shot. They could not help his allergic reaction, but seriously, it may have helped had the injected in the skin above muscle so that the chemicals had a place to go. My dog lost hair in that spot, and it was about the size of half dollar. I am a firm believer in holistic medicine so I used lavender oil for two months and hair started to sprout of the middle of the spot and after a few more weeks that spot was covered with hair. Its a slightly different color but it looks much better.
I spoke to PPAWS vet about his welt once we saw it, and they did explain that it was the rabies and that she "didnt know why they injected there." My vet was in shock as well.

Now, the last thing is about the work they did by neutering my dog....First, they never asked if I wanted pain meds for him. When I asked they said males usually dont get them because females need the more. I halfway agree. I am a woman but I know that it hurts having anything removed from your body. Having testicles removed maybe slightly less painful, but how do you know? They cut open a sack and cut stuff and take out stuff-- that has to hurt. Well, once looking at my dogs incision I was outraged. They gave him razor burn, but didnt get all the hair. They left stubble to poke at his sensitive skin.
So, I called them asking for my donation of $25.00 back, because I did not feel they deserved it with how my dog was treated. I was told they would talk to the owner of the organization. Humm...I waited, and waited, and so I called again, and then a few more times. Finally, the receptionist tells me, "We aren't going to give you your money back because we don't think you deserve it." I dont deserve my money back? hm... I was furious upon hearing this, and up until this point I had maintained my temper. Had this been someones human child who was mistreated the mother would have ripped their heads off. Well, my dog is my child, and I simply wanted my money back because they hurt him. They didnt handle this situation properly. No one, NO ONE, apologized for anything. So, my temper went through the roof once they said I dont deserve my money. At that point I was wrong for what I said to them, but, I will NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE!

I heard they did good work on a friend of a friends cats, but they did not do proper work on my dog. I would never take a female animal there. Be careful!

I hate this place for what my dog had to go through.
