I desperately needed emergency care for a dog that was suffering a prolonged seizure (over an hour). Had her in my car searching for a place, when the on-call vet returned my call (Dr. Polly Wilde). She asked me about everything but my dog... who's my regular vet... and am I prepared to pay $200 just for her showing up, not to mention the added expense of blood work and treatment... plus she'll need 40 minutes to get there... etc. Not once did she show concern for our dog or what she was going through, or ask questions about her status, nothing! No kindness or concern to her voice whatsoever. I was in tears and she just seemed perturbed to be disturbed on her weekend. When I commented that it was all about the money to her, she insulted me and hung up on me. Most unprofessional experience I have ever had with a Vet. She called back 30 minutes later with a number for some place in Round Rock, like maybe she realized how callous she had been, but still not one question about the status of the patient, and not one word of apology about her rudeness or unprofessionalism in hanging up. I was well on my way to North Austin Animal Hospital by that time. They, by the way, were awesome and didn't talk money until they had seen the dog and stabilized her. THAT is the true sign of someone who cares about the life of an animal. Polly Wilde was cold and distant and only cared about making sure she got paid. My visit to Austin turned out to be $300+, which I gladly paid, and the people were professional, caring, and loving to both my pet and myself. I will NEVER try Lake Area Animal Clinic again and will tell everyone who asks me about a Vet not to go there. That's a shame because they may have other wonderful people working there ,but Dr. Wilde is bad for business.

The doctors and staff are wonderful, and explain what is needed, what's not and why. They also go over costs before they perform any service or procedure--I highly recommend them!

I was able to get an appt easily and a parking place. I saw Dr Culpepper. He misdiagnosed my dog and did a very expensive treatment on her even though he was sending me to a specialist the next day he wanted to line his pockets first. The specialist was expensive and completely unnecessary. I wrote Dr Culpepper a letter but he never even responded.
