I brought my dog Kira there on 7/9/12 to find out why she was not eating and losing weight. Dr. Jones took bloodwork and gave her medicine stating "this will help with the sludge in her gallbladder." Gave the medicine, however she was still not eating and losing weight. Had a follow-up appt on 7/20 which then more bloodwork was taken. Was told "she had elevated enzymes in her liver." Was given thistle vitamins to take on an empty stomach. At this time my dog had lost 20 pounds, ribs, spine, hip bones were protruding. I was then told that my dog was "depressed from moving and the heat was the answer for her not eating." My daughter brought Kira on 7/25 in which special vet formulated food was given by Dr. Poppy to see if our beloved dog would eat. She ate 2 cans, out of four(4), and once again stopped eating. On 8/3 our last visit, I was once again told, by Dr. Jones, "it's due to the heat and depression." That our dog "did not look like a cancer dog. It is August and once the temperatures start to change she will then begin to eat again and be her happy self. " I knew there was more involvement then depression and heat, so my daughter and I took Kira to The Silver Bluff Vet Hospital in which an xray was taken. Only to find there was a large mass in her chest cavity which was making it difficult for Kira to breathe and that's why she was always panting even in an air conditioned apartment of 74 degrees. She also had a large mass in her abdomen which pushed on her intestines and was the cause of her not eating. They charged $299 for the initial visit, bloodwork, xrays and euthanasia. We also received a sympathy card signed by all employees. If an xray was performed at the initial visit from The Ark this diagnosis would have been found and my Kira would not have endured such suffering for four (4) weeks. And the emotional rollercoaster ride my daughter and I suffered not knowing what was happening to our beloved dog, who we've had since she was 8 weeks old and now was 9 yrs old. I would NEVER take my animals to this facility. The Ark charged me a total of $652.74 in which the only reimbursement I received was for the unused medication total check $247.77. Never received a call from them and when I followed through with the outcome I was told "your check is here" and they hung up. I believe they still owe $404.97

Our animals never mind having to visit Dr. Jones and the staff- and they seem glad to see our pets too! They are always professional, courteous and prompt. They had some of the best pricing I have ever seen. It even seemed to be a little under what other veterinarians in the area charge, so needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. The waiting room here is spacious. I never feel like I have to sit too close to someone or that it is overcrowded.
