Thank you Dr. Novello, Dr. Gordon and "Dr. Mike" for your excellent work with getting our child back to living the life he is supposed to be living! Words cannot express our gratitude. Finally, the right diagnosis and the right treatment and the right outcome!!!!! My husband and I want you to know that we will be singing your praises to those who could benefit from your excellent work. WL.
Dr. Mike, We just posted a longer review at the Ashburn Psyhological and Psychiatric Services Wellness page so we will keep it brief here. My husband and I want to thank you for what you and the practice have done for our son and family. Five stars from us and we'd give you all more if that were an option! You have done more than you will ever know to restore normality to our lives, and we are forever grateful. Keep up the great work!!
We just wrote a review on their main page and will add a few thoughts here. Can't say enough about these guys. Our son has been treated by this practice for several years now from testing for ADHD to therapy and medications and with excellent results. Congrats on the Today Show interview and the Washington Post article Dr. Oberschneider!!! You deserve the continued attention for your expertise in the field of mental health. We will continue to recommend Ashburn Psych to our friends when appropriate.
We saw Dr. Oberschneider, or "Dr. Mike," upon the recommendation of the director of our child's school. Our family had been through many therapists with little change, but we learned more about our child's problems (and his needs) from Dr. Mike in one meeting than we had in several months of treatment with others. He quickly identified our child's problems and ours as parents and spent equal time alone with our child and alone with us. Dr. Mike is excellent with young teens with Asperger's. We also see Dr. Joseph Novello at the practice for medication, and he too is excellent. My husband and I recognized Dr. Novello's voice immediately from his radio show, The Family Doctor, that used to be aired in DC. Our son was also tested at the practice for his learning and processing struggles, and they did a great job! Hands down, the practice is excellent, and we will continue to recommend them all to our friends.
I worked with Dr. Michael Oberschneider for about two and a half years. When I first came to him, I did not expect to like him. I came to him a bit upset but mostly confused as to why my parents had brought me to a psychologist. I didn't want Dr. Oberschneider to help me, and I didn't want to be there. He seemed to understand this. He had a gentle, almost apologetic attitude for our first vists. He never tried to force himself into my mind or dig at any of my insecurities. Rather, he asked me questions and let me work them out myself. He asked the right questions though -- the type of questions that made you think about yourself; the ones you didn't always have an answer to right away. He had a very kind way of reserving judgment about my flaws yet complemented aspects of mine that were positive. He made me see myself as a better person, and separate productive attributes of mine, from self destructive habits focused on instant gratification. Dr. Oberschneider is a true psychologist -- one that talks patients through the process of figuring out their own internal disagreements. He never tries to encompass the complexity that is the human brain in a single diagnosis or term just so that he can write a prescription and leave it at that. He displayed compassion, diligence and a lot of hard work by not giving up on me or by not taking short cuts in our therapy sessions. He stuck with me for almost three years before he, but more importantly, I was confident that I was able to control my behavior and recognize trouble seeking habits. Dr. Oberschneider is a role model and postive authority figure -- but most of all he is a friend who accepts his patiens as they are and makes them want to better themselves. I would highly recommend Dr. Oberschneider for ancy child, young adult or adult who is having trouble escaping self destructive, addicting or problematic behaviors. His holistic views of his patiens, gentle yet intriguiging input and patients with his patients makes him a psychologist that will not just diagnose and prescribe -- but a psychologist who willl help resolve the deepest issues withinin a patient permanently.
Dr. Michael Oberschneider has been a tremendous asset to our family. He worked with my three children for approxinately 2 years while they were in preschool. "Dr. Mike" helped me learn how to parent 3 extremely challenging children. I used to carry a notebook to our appointments and looked forward to our weekly sessions. He would always greet us with a friendly "hello" and ask how things were going since our last session. Dr. Mike would often provide reasonable suggestions and strategies to sue for the existing problems I was experiencing with the trials and tributes of parenting that week. All of my children enjoyed working with Dr. Mike. They enjoyed getting a small treat from him after he worked with them. My children still remember him. He made a positive and lasting impression on them. Because of Dr. Mike we learned how to be better parents and how to help our children learn how to deal with their difficult emotions and challenges within their lives. I highly recommend Dr. Mike to any family with small children. He is an amazing therapist.
I have known Dr. Oberschnider for a long time. He has worked with my son who is now 11 years old. He connected with my son who has some learning disabilities. Dr. Oberschnider made him feel very comfortable and my son loves to go to his practice! Dr. Oberschnider is very professional, on time, friendly and most importantly knowledgeable. I highly recommend him to anyone.
They are one of the most reliable psychologists I've ever been to. They never cancel my appointments and always make sure they are available when they say they will be. I know I can always count on them. We have know Dr. Oberschneider for several years, and he's helped us with family counseling as well as helping us determine if one of our children had ADHD/learning issues. He goes above and beyond the call of duty for his patients. I know if we ever need help, Dr. Oberschneider is the first one we call. I have also recommended him to several friends in need. by L Marrotte XXX.XXX.110.60 August 01, 2013
Dr. Michael Oberschneider and the doctors at APS are an integral part of our healthcare. Having been through several crises with them over several years, they have always provided the highest degree of support that has been more than just counseling. "Dr. Mike" knows his patients are real people who need accurate and honest third-party perspectives when unimaginable life and emotional events arise. Dr. Rasheed see his patients as being more than just prescriptions. His concern for his patients includes basic medicine as part of his treatment process, and he will take the time to make sure that all questions are answered when they are asked. Thank you APS for all that you have done for me and my family.
My son with Aspeger's Disorder has seen "Dr. Mike" Oberschneider as neeed for several years now. We attribute a lot of our son's success with his behaviors and his social and emotional problems to his work with Dr. Mike. Dr. Mike has seen my son in both individual and group therapy and that combination seemed to work best for our son in terms of making lasting improvements. We recommend Dr. Mike 100% for kids and teens with Asperger's -- been through a lot of bad therapists!!! We first Dr. Mike speak at an autism conference years ago, and have been with him ever since. We have referred several of our friends to Dr. Mike with great success! Thanks Dr. Mike!!
