I am adding an update to my review of Jacob D Cohen. He has begun to antagonize me when he sees me near my office. Yesterday, when he saw me near my office he made weird, crying baby noises. We work in the same office building. There is something very wrong with this person. He has no business being a therapist. He is DANGEROUS TO THE PUBLIC. -Monika Perlstein, LMT.
Jacob had helped me with a difficult situation in the past. Ten years later I decided to use him again for a different family related challenge. My experience this time was hurtful, unproductive, and unprofessional. I was hoping to have a safe space to express long term concerns I was having with a close family member. Rather than creating a safe space for us, he ganged up on me with my family member in aggressive manner, accused me of being passive aggressive when I was silent from feeling shamed, discounted the feelings and experience I was having, for which I was seeking his support for, and told me he didn't want to work with me anymore. I was stunned and confused. It was harmful rather than helpful. My head is still spinning.
I am very sad to say that of the therapists that I have worked with in my lifetime, none of them ever accused me of playing a game with them like Jacob did. We agreed to terminate the professional relationship and I sent a courteous text and told him that he helped me and I wished him blessings, always. He then sent me a very hurtful text - a figurative punch in the gut on the way out the door that was highly unprofessional and harmful to my mental state. Knowing what my traumas are, he would be fully aware of what he did. I will never trust another therapist, again, after my experience with Jacob Cohen. -Monika Perlstein, LMT
