I had brought my daughter's hunter/jumpers to Dr. Lokai for years when she was competing and never had soundness issues with any of them. I recently brought my senior dog to him after being on steroids and heavy duty pain meds for over a month with very limited results in controlling his severe chronic neck pain. After one acupuncture treatment, daily magnetic therapy and daily joint supplements, he was running around and back to his old happy self in a little over a week! It's so obvious that Doc truly cares about the well-being of the animals he treats and i love the fact that he is so knowledgeable about treatments other than traditional medications! Doc is AMAZING!!! I had just hoped he could make my dog comfortable for as long as possible, but instead he gave him his quality of life back!

If you want a vet that knows more about your horse's history than you do and refuses to listen to your concerns - this is the man for you. I took my horse to Dr. Lokai for chiropractic treatment as this had fixed his movement issues in the past. Within 10 minutes of watching the horse move Lokai said that the horse's issue was his hocks and that he need them injected to solve the problem "long term." I tried to give him a history of other more extensive evaluations (like the 6 hour 2 vet work up at SurgiCare) that said it wasn't his hocks but a SI joint issue - but Lokai wouldn't listen and was adamant that hock injections were the only solution. I was an idiot and allowed him to inject the horse's hocks. Now the horse will barely move, refusing to extend his legs. I telephone Dr. Lokai and he said to bring him back up (1.5 hour drive each way) and he would do a chiropractic adjustment on him for "free." I had already paid for the chiropractic adjustment as well as $400 for the unnecessary hock injections on the initial visit. Dr. Lokai handed me two tubes of Bute and said to give the horse some whenever I wanted to ride, stating the Univ of Fl had overstated the negative attributes of the drug. Please find a vet that will listen to you. This one will not. And when you know better - DON'T let any vet perform a procedure that is not warranted. I was a fool and now my horse and pocketbook are suffering because of it. Please don't do the same thing.

I was disappointed that their staff didn't seem to respect them very much. They weren't disrespectful but I could tell they didn't have a very good relationship. I would never recommend them to anyone. They were terrible. I spend a little too much time in the waiting room. I've waited longer at other offices, but I was hoping to be seen sooner. The veterinarian is rude, disrespectful, and unethical. I will never go to him again!
