What a great yoga experience I have had with RoxAnn Madera!! I began taking classes with her several years ago and have never looked back. She has an incredible teaching style that is geared to senior women. She is knowledgeable when it comes to presenting yoga, is caring, and works diligently to develop each student's skill in yoga. She offers seminars, retreats and ideas and information that help me with everyday life.
Rox Ann's Therapeutic Yoga Class has been a vital part of recovery from hip replacement surgery. She brings wisdom, expertise and experience to the classroom and also addresses individual medical concerns. Her attention to detail in yoga poses is extraordinary while she manages to impart valuable wisdom to alleviate the aches and pains of aging. I look forward to her class every week and try to implement what she teaches. It seems I feel full of life, inspired and energized (and maybe a little younger too.) Thank-you Rox Ann, I am very grateful for you! Debbie E. Huntington Beach
Hello everyone. My name is Bob M., from Southern California. I am in my early 70’s and up until last April (2014) I had never done Yoga in my lifetime. For the past 25 years I have been under the care of a chiropractor for low back pain, sciatica and other complications resulting from my congenital spinabifita. For the past 7-8 years I have been seeing a massage therapist every 3 weeks to help ease the discomfort in my back. About a year ago my massage therapist told me that the left side of my back was higher than the right side. I addition, I was told that my neck muscles were too tight. My therapist suggested that I try yoga to help improve my body alignment. I was told that yoga would possibly help me avoid surgery on my back within the next 5 years. In April, 2014 I signed up for a “Yoga in a Chair” class at the Senior Center. There I met my teacher; Ms. RoxAnn Madera. The “Yoga in a Chair” class was not what I was hoping for, and after 2 classes, RoxAnn suggested that I try her “Yoga on a Mat” class. The class worked out for me so well, that I now do “Yoga on a Mat” twice weekly. RoxAnn’s class is neither judgmental nor competitive, and everyone is encouraged to “work at your own pace”, and “do what you can”. There are very few other men in her classes, but, I’m truly not even aware of the other classmates. After almost 1 year of yoga, my low back pain has all but disappeared, and my sciatica pain is now non-existent. My chiropractor now does “very little” adjusting and he believes that the yoga has really helped me. Best of all, my massage therapist told me a few months ago that my back was now “even’ on both sides, my low back was strong and my neck was much looser. Count me in as a “Lifetime Yogie” Bob M.
I have been a student of RoxAnn’s for going on two years now. I was immediately impressed with her energy and spirit. She shares her own Yoga experiences and she is a tribute to the success of the discipline. She is open and friendly with all her students and going to her classes has not only been fun but has shown me ways to be as fit as I can be. She encourages without pushing. Her enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you, RoxAnn. Ann Steindlberger, Fountain Valley
Since beginning my Yoga class, I find that I am much more flexible and have much better balance which makes me feel more self confidence in my daily life. I appreciate how knowledgeable that you aabout the way our body works. I like that we concentrate on different parts of our bodies each week in class. In the past, I have suffered with anxiety attacks. I find that I have been having less and less problem with it as I am able to calm myself with my deep breathing excercises.
