Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, I received my Medical Degree from the Leningrad Medical Institute in 1981. I then obtained a Ph.D. in Hematology from Leningrad’s Institute of Hematology in 1988. I came to the United States in 1991 to continue my research at the University of Pennsylvania and later completed my residency at Pennsylvania Hospital. I moved to San Antonio in 1999 and completed my Fellowship in Medical Oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSC) in 2002. Since that time, until December of 2007, I was practicing Medical Oncology, teaching and conducting cancer research at both the UTHSC and the Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC).
I have opened CanThera Cancer Therapy Center in Stone Oak in order to provide high-quality, individualized treatment to cancer patients. My one-on-one approach with my patients allows me to customize the therapy based on the needs and goals of each patient. My personal style is direct and honest, and also includes warmth and humor. In my spare time, I enjoys reading, hiking, and relaxing with a good cup of coffee.
