Pam McFarland earned a Doctorate of Science (ScD) in Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University in 2007. Instruction in and application of manual therapy techniques was an integral part of the doctoral program course work. As a result, Pam is a certified orthopedic manual therapy specialist for the extremities (COMT). This certification by the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine-US (IOM-US) is based on the most current research for diagnosis and effective treatment of painful musculoskeletal pathology. Pam has taught at Upstate Medical University. The courses taught included diagnosis and treatment of the low back, sacroiliac joint, and hip, Movement Analysis, an introductory course of the spine and extremities, as well as a more advanced Spine course. Education, she believes, is an important aspect of patient care enabling the patient to understand their condition and actively participate in their recovery.
