Well...

It's a week (I think) since I started this blog. I was thinking I would be gone longer on my trip, but while I was visiting my Grandfather in one state my grandmother in another state passed away, so I'm home and can write again.
I didn't do TOO badly while I was gone. I did go running one day, which I really don't mind doing, but it's so hard on my knees that I can't go up and down stairs very well and I have to eat a lot of Advil for a day or two afterward, so I'm thinking it's just not my best exercise. Biking, walking, and the machines at the Y are my best bet. I've bought a swimsuit, too, so I can try lap swimming.
As far as the eating, I tried to eat less than I normally would, and I stayed away from snacks and coffee, with a couple of exceptions. I'm thinking now that I'm just going to have to substitute fruit for desserts or make sure that I eat less so that I can budget in the dessert, which I do love. I didn't gain any weight, though, while I was gone, so I'm happy about that, and I did do a lot of walking and played lawn darts, so at least I was active and not sitting around the whole visit.

HI, I know that going on vacation or a long trip is excruciating painful when it comes to maintaining a healthy life style. when I go on trips, I like to just tell myself to eat as healthy as possible, even if I'm eating in restaurants or fast food. I like to eat at lease 4-5 times a day and my husband wants to eat 1-2 big meals on any day. So I pack an insulated bag with fruits, vegatables, and some protein and it holds me over so I don't get too hungry and go on a hunger rampage. I'm really sorry for the loss of your grandmother and that loss uses up alot of energy. I hope things are going good for you. It's not worth doing an exercise that will cause a painful knee, walking or swimming is ideal. Sincerely Dorrie Robles MFT
