I've been living in Los Angeles for over a decade, and I've seen and heard all these different LA diets that come and go. A LA diet for this, for that, and they all come and go. In the end, it seems, mainly 2 diets still are fighting and I think and seen that it really depends on the person's body and what works for them! Obviously less calories in, more calories out. The two diets are low fat diet and low carb diet, or what Atkins took from the bodybuilding community from the fifties and renamed it a high protein diet. By the way, Arnold Schwarzenegger and friends have been doing low carb or high protein diets before Atkins new about dieting. I myself did my first low carb, high protein diet in 1984! Another third diet could be also included, the balanced diet, which does work for long term and should be initiated once a person loses fat weight, but for focusing on a weight loss diet, the low fat diet and low carb diet still seem to be reigning here in Los Angeles, California.
