Snow & Cold !!

It's my second day trapped at home because of the atrocious amount of snow in central MA.

I've been talking to people about the effects cold and snow have on our bodies. Shoveling causes tense muscles and joints mostly in the back and shoulders, and the cold contributes to this as well. I like to tell people to notice when they're contracting their shoulder muscles because of the cold -- it's a good time to depress your shoulders and shake out your arms. It may feel like you're making yourself warmer, but the more you contract these muscles the less blood and lymph fluid easily flow through them, causing the build up of toxins. This is a common cause of what we refer to as knots.

I am making every effort not to exacerbate the problem areas especially in my traps/SCM, but it's difficult! My temporary solution is to stay inside with hot cocoa. =)
