Gratitude...The Giving and Recieving of Positivity

Each day begins for me with giving thanks and acknowledging my blessings...the essentials; breath of life in my body and my loved ones, strength to rise up to provide and protect, and the functionality of my mind to develop and deliver thought. These are the things that regardless what happens the rest of my day, cannot be de-valued. Without them, nothing else is possible, so they are worthy of acknowledgement.

Gratitude...what or whom in your life do you deem worthy of it? Are you able to see beyond the valuables, to recognize what is truly to be valued? Do you take/keep inventory of them?

Gratitude has been described simply as, the awareness of the good things that happen to you and not taking them for granted. How you express gratitude; from the simple to the grand, should never mean more to you than the originating feeling.
Gratitude is a simple yet powerful means of aligning ourselves with our spiritual source. It is a gift we give to ourselves as well as to others.
I find that by constantly being aware of the goodness in my life and expressing gratitude in accordance, I am happier, of clearer thought, and able to maintain optimism necessary to carry me through the challenges of each day. Because of the acknowledgement of the good, I am energized, able to combat that which could do me harm.

Regardless the amount of "valuables" we posses, our lives can be full of value. Take inventory...count your blessings. I challenge you to complete this exercise; write down five things you feel grateful for, once a week, for 8 weeks in a row. I am confident that by taking this simple task to consistently bring these things to the forefront of your mind, exciting results will emerge:
-Lowering of your stress level
-Increase in optimism
-Improved satisfaction in your life

Want to spread the gains of positivity, and make it a gift that keeps on giving (emotionally, physically, and mentally)....write gratitude letters to significant individuals in your life, and read it aloud to the recipient. Wow! Talk about breathing life into something, I am confident that it will foster feelings of joy, and a closer meaning and pleasure into the relationship.

Ever the realist, I know life's challenges can at times be so dominating that seeing and responding to goodness can seem impossible. As with every other internal functions we seek to develop so it can be depended in time of need, so to must our ability for gratitude. Try practicing the following:
-Keep a gratitude journal...putting things to paper helps make them more real
-Express your gratitude...practice helps makes the effort natural
-Look for what is right about a situation, not what's wrong...be the conduit of positivity

The goodness of life. If you have read this entry, then you were the recepient of the blessing of another day. Acknowledge and show gratitude for this most-valued gift.

Gratefully yours,
Sidney
