Each day begins for me with giving thanks and acknowledging my blessings...the essentials; breath of life in my body and my loved ones, strength to rise up to provide and protect, and the functionality of my mind to develop and deliver thought. These are the things that regardless what happens the rest of my day, cannot be de-valued. Without them, nothing else is possible, so they are worthy of acknowledgement.
Gratitude...what or whom in your life do you deem worthy of it? Are you able to see beyond the valuables, to recognize what is truly to be valued? Do you take/keep inventory of them?
Gratitude has been described simply as, the awareness of the good things that happen to you and not taking them for granted. How you express gratitude; from the simple to the grand, should never mean more to you than the originating feeling. Gratitude is a simple yet powerful means of aligning ourselves with our spiritual source. It is a gift we give to ourselves as well as to others. I find that by constantly being aware of the goodness in my life and expressing gratitude in accordance, I am happier, of clearer thought, and able to maintain optimism necessary to carry me through the challenges of each day. Because of the acknowledgement of the good, I am energized, able to combat that which could do me harm.
