I recently started working for myself and have had many "What did I get myself into moments". I most recent one was my quest for individual coverage.
I have always been insured and have been an insurance company's dream. Healthy, never go to the doctor, don't believe in prescription medications, active, normal blood pressure and cholesterol and not a smoker. Well this all changed when I found a spot on my chest that didn't seem to heal. During my check up with my dermatologist, she saw it, removed it and all is well. No big deal.
Until I get a call from the provider in reference to my application. I explained that the spot was removed, all is well and I am now a lifelong supporter of sunscreen.
Well, I received my denial of coverage letter today. I am filled with so many emotions and wonder what the heck is wrong with our world? I thought Insurance Reform had passed and I thought it would never be anything that would ever affect me.
I am a lifelong pursuer of health and wellness. I have always wanted to be a part of something that helps spread this to the community so I recently took a position developing a Wellness Center for my area. It is exciting, but of course with anything new, comes challenges.
