Dr. Spear did the first phase of my breast reconstruction immediately after my bilateral mastectomy surgery, and I'm scheduled to have the final surgery in late August.

I have been VERY HAPPY with ALL aspects of my care from Dr. Spear, the resident physicians, and the nurses in his office. Fortunately, I had a smooth and speedy recovery, and...I look great.

Before meeting Dr. Spear, I'd been told that he's not the hand-holding type, and can be very direct. I don't really care about that. I have to say that actually Dr. Spear has been very nice to me, and has never seemed rushed. Maybe I always see him on good days, who knows? For me the bottom line is that he is an excellent surgeon, and Georgetown Univ. Hospital is fantastic! I have only great things to say about the surgeon and facility.

"I'm tired of operating on you," sighed the beat Dr. Spear after 7 surgeries. He is stretched so thin that I suspect he does very little of the surgery himself. Look out for teaching hospitals!
