Of all the persons I have ever known on this planet, Stephen Gates will always be cherished as one of the most brilliant, talented, diverse, loving human beings to enrich every patient, friend, colleague and animal...especially collies....with whom he came in contact. His enormous intellect, curiosity, energy, sense of humor, love, loyalty,compassion and dedication to excellence made him a tremendous success as a physician,scholar, husband, friend, computer whiz, ham radio afficianado, environmentalist,hiker, pilot, scuba diver, cave rescue person,animal lover,bicycle repairman,gourmet chef, linguist and exquisite tenor. His life ended too soon at the age of 50 when his magnificent heart stopped. Rest in peace, dear friend and know your tremendous legacy lives on forever in the hearts and minds of everyone privileged to know you.
