Let me start by saying that until today I was generally pleased with my experience with Gold's Gym in Woodstock, GA. I have been a member for 3 years and have added my wife and 2 children to my membership as well. All in all I was spending app. $250 p/m between regular fee's and personal training.

Today my daughter got out from school early and wanted to go to the gym with me. One of her friends asked if she could tag along, not to work out but just to wait and watch. Upon arriving at the gym I told the guy at the front desk that my daughters friend wouldn't be working out. He told me that it didn't matter, it would still be a $5 fee just for having her there. I told him surely they could waive the fee since I have been a member in good standing for 3 years and pay 50 times that much per month for my membership, either that or could he give me one of the free one day passes they give out from time to time. He refused. I asked to speak to the manager. He also refused. At that point I explained to him (ok I might have been losing my patience at this point, though I did not yell or use profanity) that it would be a very poor business decision to allow a $5 fee to cause me to cancel my memberships and lose thousands in revenue. He told me not to get an attitude, that I was free to cancel my membership and then asked me to leave, following me out the door.

Upon arriving home (extremely mad)I ran a finance report to see how much I had spent at Gold's over the past 3 years. It totaled out to over $7000.00. So for not waiving a $5 fee, Gold's Gym in Woodstock will not receive the thousands more I would have spent over the next 3 years. Not to mention the fact that I was directly responsible for 8 others joining Gold's.
Customer service at its worst and about the poorest business decision I have ever heard!

And its not an isolated case. My friend and workout partner cancelled his membership because one of his nephews was watching him workout and they told him he had to leave or pay the $5, in a not at all friendly way.

And before any of you may say there are legal liability issues, we were more then willing to sign the guest waiver. So mainly due to their extremely poor customer service I rate Gold's Gym in Woodstock GA, POOR
