Dr. Leighty is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He is a second generation dentist; his father was one of the first dentists to practice in Augusta, Kansas. After undergraduate work at Wichita State University and the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Leighty attended dental school at UCSF and served his residency at the Univerity of Washington in Seattle, and Rijnstate Zeikenhouse in Arnhem, The Netherlands.
ServicesOral and maxillofacial surgery requires 4 to 6 additional years of hospital based surgical and anesthesia training following dental school. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Leighty manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Dr. Leighty practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from pathology and trauma to corrective jaw surgery and wisdom tooth removal. He can also diagnose and treat facial pain, injuries and TMJ disorders, and performs a full range of dental implant procedures including distraction osteogenesis.
Dr. Leighty’s staff is trained in assisting with adult and pediatric IV sedation and general anesthesia within our state of the art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.
