If I could give Dr. Yip a big fat zero stars I would! Where do I start? I went to Dr. Yip San Gabriel office last week for a root canal consultation. When I walked in the door I noticed that the receptionist and waiting area had a bunch of outdated furniture. I asked the dental assistant to use the restroom and she showed me where it was located. When I went in the small, dark, & dingy restroom the toilet seat was left up as if the only man in the office (Dr.Yip) used the restroom and forgot to put the toilet seat down. This made me wonder if he may have also forgotten to wash his hands. The exam room was just as disgusting! There were dark brown mold/rust stains on the cracked linoleum floors, glue and paste all over the ancient dental chair and tray table, Dusty old spider webs hanging from the ceiling, and several areas on the floor where the linoleum was coming up or missing. I mentioned to the dental assistant that the room didn't appear very clean and the equipment and chair looked extremely outdated. She sarcastically replied "Oh you mean like that glue right there", as she point to the brownish gray paste smeared on the tray table. She went on to tell me that she has mentioned to Dr. Yip the need to purchase new equipment and spruce the office up but to no avail. I told her I didn't feel like this room was clean and she gave me a look as if she understood my concern and told me to express it to Dr. Yip. Obviously she was afraid to relay the information herself and for good reason. When Dr. Yip finally came in to the exam room to go over my x-rays I immediately told him that the state of his office, equipment and furniture made me very uncomfortable. He replied by telling me he was not there for comfort. This was very unsettling coming from someone who would be potentially performing oral surgery on me. Isn't he obligated to keep his patience's comfort in mind? He continued on by throwing insults at me such as if I didn't like the office I should go to a 'chain' dental office like Dr. Campbell or Western Dental where they cater to their patience but have new dentists in the office every week. Dr. Yip was very mean, rude, & insulting. He was short tempered when I had questions about the procedures he was suggesting I get. Needless to say I will not be going back to him to get anything done and I hope this serves as a warning to anyone reading it to stay far away from his office!
