Beware! Gillespie Carter is unprofessional in his practice. Had no problems with my teeth, and always maintained my teeth and any sign of cavities I would not postpone and schedule straight away with a dentist!
The result was an x-ray taken and told two cavities. Also got a clean while there. So scheduled as soon as possible to get fillings put in. The experience was horrible. No glasses given to protect the eyes from their bright light they use, none of that water used while they drilled both my teeth. So all I could smell and breath in was tooth dust and a strong tooth burning smell. Didn't bother showing me my x-rays, had to ask and even there he was so general about it, basically wanting to quickly get rid of me.
The numbing needle he used made half my face, ear and up my head numb, which seems he gave it excessively.
Since then my tooth would ache terribly. I'd have juice, it would ache for hours after. I would even drink water and it would ache! Ended up buying a numbing agent to help numb that pain. Couldn't eat on my one side and so we called Gillespie's office back and scheduled to be seen again.
On the next appointment, he looked in my mouth and said it's normal. Said I just have to learn to live with it as that's part of having fillings! Didn't recommend another x-ray as should be standard practice, just didn't show care.
So we went to Colorado for a wedding and while there saw another dentist who scheduled us in, and gave an x-ray straight away. Found Gillespie drilled extremely close to the nerve, so they drilled the Gillespie's filling out and put a sedative filling with clover oil in to help calm the inflammation. The Dr. we saw said he could see through the tooth to were Gillespie drilled into and was about to see the nerve due to how thin the tooth was left. This Dr. also provided the glasses for eye protection as standard and used the water while drilling which made everything a better experience.
We were also told that if my tooth were left the way it was now, that eventually my nerve could have died off and eventually I would have needed root canal and eventually the tooth removed with a cap in place. All that amounting to around $2,000 on top.
After that first visit my tooth was wonderfully far better. I was finally able to eat on both sides I found I would forget that I just had the sedative filling in place. So as scheduled I came back a few days after the tooth settled with the sedative filling and had part of it removed to have the more permanent filling put over that as the top layer. It wasn't cheap and cost us about $230 for the second dentist thanks to Gillespie Carter's mistake, who has denied any responsibility for his work, claimed it was our responsibility.
You would think we can trust a dentist to do what is right. Not Gillespie! Beware of his "services" as you may just end up with more problems then before!
We called his office up to try and get money back for the extra work done on the one tooth. We're not asking for all his work like the cleaning and the other filling. Just the one. But he hang up the phone and refused to try to correct his errors. You would think after all his "year in experience" that you could trust him. But that is not so. He is only interested in taking your money!
He is unfit to be in dentistry and all should be cautious before putting themselves and their teeth at risk of being destroyed.
