This therapist really messed me up. I saw this guy over a 25 year period, some years off, other years I saw him twice a week. Mostly once a week for years. Maybe the first years were good, maybe, or maybe I didn't know any better, but eventually all our "revelations"about my past turned into a poisonous script, a toxic story, a deadly inner dialogue, sometimes called self-talk, that had me suicidally depressed with hopelessness. He kept saying: You need to come in more, You need to grieve more, you need to feel more, (it was always grief). until I got into my late 50's and realized it was never going to happen. Then he had his own breakdown and started talking about himself in therapy, I'll spare you the details. Suddenly I realized it wasn't me, it was him. I'd wasted tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours and driving. I saved my own life with a book on CBT, a technique he doesn't respect and a book he dismissed as "over 30 years old". By the principles of CBT his methods were positively poisonous for me, deepening my dark moods with critical thoughts and beliefs I obtained in his office. This man doesn't know anything about happiness, he's a pro at grief. "You need to grieve more" I can still her him saying it. Go see him if you like misery.

Robert Jaffe is a wonderful therapist. he helped me find a direction to my lost life, he helped me make sense out of my life's puzzle and today, I see life from a different lens than I used to see it before. I am more confident and strong enough to face challenges and come out still strong. Robert Jaffe will always challenge you to carry out independent soul purpose search within yourself and you eventually figure things out. If life seems to make no sense, he will help you out.
