Are you looking for a warm and engaging therapist who focuses on understanding your own unique perspectives, challenges, and goals? A therapist who uses those insights and combines a variety of therapeutic approaches to find what works best for you? If so, I'm here to help. My clients have told me that they like how therapy feels interactive and engaging, that I understand them better than they've felt understood before, and that I give them lots of helpful feedback and useful strategies, but I don't give them direct advice or push an agenda onto them.
Using empathetic clinical understanding I develop a clear focus for therapy that can yield quicker results and help clients feel "heard". I also teach skills for overcoming difficult emotions and creating more rewarding relationships.
Originally from Lansing, I have moved around the country to seek out the best training: cognitive-behavioral training at Nova Southeastern University and University of Miami, interpersonal-dynamic from Palo Alto VAMC, and advanced post-doctoral training from University of Florida/Gainesville VAMC. I am one of only a few psychologists in West Michigan with formal postdoctoral training.
