I have been a therapist for over 25 years. I work with individuals, couples and families. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), and am on the faculty of the Minuchin Center for the Family. I am also a hypnotherapist and teach at the New York Society for Ericksonian Psychotherapy and Hypnosis ( NYSEPH).
Much of my practice is with couples, both married and unmarried who are experiencing conflict, ranging from minor conflict to families on the brink of divorce. In some cases people are dealing with issues such as affairs or domestic violence which need attention. However for most couples, therapy is not about the issues they are in conflict over. It is about helping people to develop a different and better process for dealing with issues that arise, and helping them to understand he other person's position.
I also work with families who come in with various concerns about children and adolescents. These run the gamut from school and behavioral issues to depressed or anxious children and teenagers. My experience is that working with the family is the most effective and efficient to deal with children's issues. For children and for teenagers dealing with serious issues it works better than individual therapy.
I am also a hypnotherapist. I use hypnotherapy primarily to help people dealing with anxiety (general anxiety, phobias, social anxiety, panic disorders) and depression. I generally use a mix of hypnotherapy and other therapeutic modalities.
