"Each one of us lives and functions in any number of social systems, the most important of which are our immediate and our extended families. We each have a God-given need to belong, to be valued, and to be accepted. But, we also need to have a sense of individuality, power, and productivity. We each have a message, and we each need to be heard! I listen to my clients - carefully and attentively and with concern. I do not focus on individual pathologies. Rather, I help my clients to examine their patterns of behavior and interaction and decide whether
those patterns are helping them achieve their desired goals - for achievement, happiness, and relationship. If they are not, we work on changing the patterns. My practice is called Caring Counseling, because empathy is probably my most client-valued asset. My clients know that I genuinely value and respect them.
I am also open and honest with them. I tell the truth, as I see it. I tell it gently; but I tell it. I do not require clients to embrace my perceptions. As I see it, my job is to facilitate and bolster the agency of my clients."
ServicesI help couples who are having difficulty with communication and many other issues.
I help parents relate to and deal with their children.
I help individuals deal with a range of emotional, relational, and functioning difficulties.
I do not diagnose or label people; we just work on figuring out what it is about their lives they want to change and how to accomplish those changes in a responsible and doable manner.
I offer objective insight - you make the decisions about what you want to do.
