I was relatively new to the Bay area, when I started going to Dr. Dalton. I had just had a baby and needed a general practitioner.

She sent me for extensive bloodwork, a mammogram, and a bone density test (because although I am only 40, I have a family history of osteoperosis). I was nursing a baby, so I was turned away for the mammogram, but i did have the other tests done. (How could a doctor not know that you cannot send a nursing woman for a mammogram?)
My bloodwork came back really abnormal, my cholesterol was very high, and a bunch of other tests were outside the normal range. Dr. Dalton completely freaked me out as to the possible cause. She said that the results could be due to hepatitis or a number of other things. We retested in several months, and she wanted me to come in to her office for a face-to-face consultation to review the results. My mom had a heart attack back on the East Coast, and so I was unable to meet with her in person. She refused to do a phone consultation, So I asked her to email the results to my mom's doctor in Connecticut, who reviewed the results with me. My cholesterol was still a bit high, and Dr. D told the CT doctor I should be put on a statin. the doctor in CT told her I couldn't go on a statin because i was nursing a baby, and that the abnormal results were consistent with someone who had just given birth. As it turns out, a year later, all my bloodwork is normal, my cholesterol is low, and all my problems were just related to pregnancy and lactation.

This woman really scared me for absolutely no reason.

I recently applied for life insurance and had to list Dr. Dalton as my doctor. My husband's policy went through without a problem, but mine has been held up waiting for paperwork from Dr. D. I am nervous that my rates will go way up or that I might even be rejected because of her crazy test results.

Maybe she is more knowledgeable in other practice areas, but she was horrendous for me. If you need a good recommendation for a gp, check out Dr. Eisele-Flint in Oakland. She is fantastic and so much more knowledgeable than Dr. Dalton.
