I had Dr. Bell deliver my last baby (now 13 months). I came to him . . . and he was a little more laid back than other OBGYN's in the way he spoke to you (which was fine with me) and I do actually remember him SOMETIMES not giving much notice before knocking . . . but EVERY time I had a question or concern his eyes lit up and listened to me without ANY rush whatsoever. Then . . . he would try to find a SOLUTION to make me feel better. This honest concern and care literally saved my life. I was told EARLY in my pregnancy (11 weeks) by my FAMILY DOCTOR that I had Sciatica due to my pregnancy when my leg hurt so badly I couldn't walk. My husband and I called Dr. Bell to tell him . . . and he said that it SOUNDED like I had sciatica . . . but that it WOULD NOT be do to the pregnancy. I explained the pain, and he made room in his schedule to see me that day. The nurses even called and tried to get me in earlier . . . but my husband wasn't able to go earlier. When I went into the office he had already let all the nurses know what I was coming in for . . . and they were VERY caring because of that. Dr. Bell was able to tell me in 10 seconds that I DID NOT have sciatica. He ordered that I get my leg scanned immediately to rule out blood clots (which I was at very low risk for considering my frame and I wasn't even showing yet) Well, I had a blood clot all the way up and down my leg AND TWO blood clots in my lungs. I could have died . . . but he was so careful to get me in on time, and to get me into the hospital right away. He didn't brush off my concerns like my family doctor did (who I usually liked). He was professional took me seriously . He wasn't just that caring with the blood clots . . . but other concerns I had before then . . . and after . . . he ALWAYS took time to discuss it with me. He also felt I was smart enough to make decisions about my birth . . . and my husband and I feel VERY Lucky we had him as my doctor.
They didn't mention anything about risks or benefits. I felt really rushed like they just wanted to get me out of there. They did not knock before entering the exam room, and chose to just barge right in. It caught me off guard and I was very uncomfortable. I was scheduled for a C-section due to CPD and he came on duty and decided to use forceps - my baby exploded out of me - and the after-birth hit the wall. Thank GOD my baby was ok, but this separated my pelvis and tore my pelvic floor. Over the years has caused me a plethora of gyn and back problems as his only treatment for this was a steroid injection to relieve pain. My pelvis is crooked and I had to have a hysterectomy since my uterus basically fell out, I have also had back surgery due to my spine sitting crooked...
