I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. I should have left her years ago. Furthermore, I know that she has lost quite a few patients in the past due to her bad attitude. I only stayed because I know that she is knowledgable. But you know, she is not the only knowledgeable doctor in New York! She refuses to acknowledge that she is rude to her patients, or just doesn't realize that she is rude and can be very obnoxious, which is worse! Instead she tries to turn everything around on you, which is just wrong. She has a way of making patients feel foolish and a way of insulting the parents. Dr. Picirillo is knowledgeable and thorough, but her bedside manner is terrible. She is abrupt and rude. When she doesn't agree with your concerns, she tends to belittle you and dismisses parental concerns instead of giving advise and talking to you in a respectful manner. She is also abrupt and impatient with her patients. My children dislike her, as they are scared of her.
I researched Dr Coley's review online before our first visit. reviews stated she had no bedside manners and was constantly telling the children in the waiting area to keep it down. Since she was close to my home and had been having a hard time finding a good pediatric Doctor for my children I decided to check for myself. Turns out the reviews were right, no beside manners, wasnt at all warm and caring to my children. Hardly spoke with them or myself unless asked questions. although I was bothered by her standoffish manner, I thought she was thorough. My most recent incident with her was that she failed to inform me that she was moving her office , and joining a new practice. my daughter had a high fever for two days and called to make an appointment. they told me to come in that afternoon. when i got there there was no mention of needing any information from me , so they had my childrens charts in the new office. As me and my daughter were in the exam room waiting for the Doctor, one of the front desk staff comes in to ask me for my insurance card?? I gave it to her and continued to wait for the doctor. After 15 minutes another staff member comes in the exam room to say . We're so sorry but we dont take your insurance here. What?! I explained that Dr coley was my chosen primary care physician and was definitely in my plan. long story short , the new office kids care pediatrics was not participating and i could not be seen unless i paid for the visit! I was not only irrate, but working in the medical field myself knew that they could request an out of net authorization for the visit under the circumstance. they told me that i could call if i wanted!! Then I asked why this wasnt checked prior to my visit?? THEY HAD NO ANSWERS , WERE RUDE AND WOULDNT HELP US. THEY TURNED ME AND MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AWAY ALTHOUGH SHE HAD A 102 FEVER.. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know , ever..
