I am a 37-yr-old woman who presented in the office with a fifth metatarsal fracture. The wait was tolerable in both the waiting room and the examining room. The Dr came into my room and in less than 3 minutes informed me of my condition and method of recovery and then walked out on me as I cried uncontrollably. I am very claustrophobic and wanted to ask if there was any other way to heal my bone rather than cast it. Dr Satterwhite was gone before I could get the first word out. Her assistant was kind enough to explain to me that normally the Dr would perform surgery for my injury but that Wellcare would not pay for it until I had worn the cast for 6 weeks. Over the next 7 days the cast became more and more uncomfortable and began causing severe pain over the shin bone where a large knot had formed. The cast had to be removed at home. I was scheduled for another appointment where I waited for almost 2 hours in the waiting room. I was called to the examination room where I sat and listened to the Doc consult another patient for 30 minutes. Had I been given half that amount of her time at my 1st appt I wouldn't have needed this second appt. After waiting another 5 minutes I realized I deserved better care than this and left without a treatment or an apology. I am sure that this is not the typical practice of Premier Orthopedics but I did wait for a call of apology before posting my story.
