Two years ago, after an extremely hard fall down some stairs, I began having severe neck and upper back pain. I also started to lose feeling in my arms and hands. As a mother of two toddlers, I was growing concerned that I would not be able to care for them or even continue to do my job. My mom recommended I see Dr. Tiffany Rogers as Dr. Rogers had performed surgery (fusion) on my mom's cervical spine a few years prior. Her operation was a success, and she was pain free. I made an appointment, and after an in-office x-ray (convenient), Dr. Rogers informed me that I had a herniated disc (C5-6) that was pinching a nerve. She provided me with a clear plan of action including physical therapy, medication, epidural spinal/steroid injection, and, ultimately, surgery, if needed. I followed her direction to the "T" and went through each recommended course of action. I appreciated that she wanted to exhaust all options before surgery. She was extremely patient, always answered each of my questions and made sure I was comfortable with the next step. After the above pre-surgery options didn't seem to eliminate my pain, and I still had numbness/tingling in my arms and hands, particularly on my left side, she recommended we try carpal tunnel release surgery. It was a very minor surgery that did provide some relief, however, the pain in my neck and upper back did not subside. She advised that we move forward with artificial disc replacement surgery using Mobi-C. She provided me with a great amount of detail about the surgery, the website to learn about the Mobi-C artificial disc and took time to explain what the recovery process would look like. She eased any fears I had and made me feel comfortable and confident about the procedure.

Two weeks before the surgery, I found out my two-year old had a hole in her heart and would need open-heart surgery. I was devastated. I was prepared to postpone my own surgery to focus on my daughter and would just push through the pain. However, my daughter's cardiologist said it would take at least a couple of months or more to do further testing and prepare her for surgery, and recommended I get back on my feet so that I could be physically well enough to care for my daughter. I notified Dr. Rogers of my daughter's diagnosis and future surgery and timeline. She was very sympathetic and knew I was depending on her to fix me. I gave her the green light, and she performed the surgery. It was a success! I followed every single instruction she gave me during the recovery process, as hard as it was. I went to physical therapy faithfully, wore my neck brace daily, didn't get in the car, never missed a follow-up appointment, completed all home exercises recommended by my physical therapist, and didn't lift a thing over the pound limit she gave me, including my daughters which broke my heart. I did this for several weeks and got stronger and stronger. Being able to care for my daughter after her surgery was my motivation to heal and get back on my feet.

Two weeks before my daughter's surgery, Dr. Rogers cleared me to lift up to 25 lbs. My daughter, at the time, was 19 lbs. I was so happy that I could be there for her surgery, to lift her and carry her throughout her recovery process. I wanted to cry. I couldn't have physically done it without Dr. Rogers and her miracle working hands. I am forever grateful for how she took such great care of me and healed me.

It has been over two years since my surgery, and I am pain free and have full range of motion. I am not on any pain meds and have zero restrictions. You can barely even see the scar on my neck. Dr. Rogers also cares about how the scars will heal and how they look after surgery. I understand that appearance is not the priority in these cases, however, if it involves an area that is visible to the public, then I do appreciate my doctor giving it some weight and doing their best to minimize scaring. My daughter's surgery was a success and she is now a healthy, happy 4-year-old with no restrictions.

I highly recommend Dr. Rogers for anyone who has neck or back issues. She deeply cares about her patients. She's simply the best. Thank you, Dr. Rogers!!!

Dr. Rogers expressed concern in regards to my physical health and pain intensity. She listens to all my concerns and has patiently dealt with my hesitancy in regards to surgical procedures. I need to return for her insight and begin proactive treatment. My fears of the unknown while nobody can fully answer are the reasons why I remain in pain.
