I saw Dr Bednar for breast cancer for 2 yrs, even though he sometimes checks personal text and left me in the room to answer personal phone calls, I chose to overlook that. He told me I should do chemo without doing Oncotype test because it would be high, I insisted and it came back low at 14. Dr Bednar acted he never got it wrong, I should have had 2nd thought back then, yet I trusted him very much since I saw him right after diagnosed until last Christmas my family told me gave him an expensive gift. Dr Bednar excitedly took the gift but didn't hesitate to insult me by implying this would make his spouse jealous. I told him the next morning I would not see him again, I overlooked I had 3 MRIs he ordered 2 weeks later. After the MRIs, he refused to review the results with me. I had to leave message at his front desk and talked to his office manager. He was basically forced to do his job and reviewed the results with me. Dr Bednar generously told me he wouldn't be offended if I went to a different oncologist as if he was the victim. He also said the office manager asked him to return the gift but he had been using it. No normal person would feel comfortable using it considering the circumstances. The egregious arrogance and antipathy was stunning. I felt embarrassed to change doctor after this long so I decided to stay. Dr Bednar remained condescending so I eventually decided to leave. During the 2 months before I went to the new doctor, I didn't take any medication because Dr Bednar told me to stop what I was taking and I was unwilling to get the new medication from his office. I understand Dr Bednar doesn't view a cancer patient as someone with dignity, he never contacted me to check if I switched to the new medication. After I left I found out the new medication was not approved for my condition, it could work but it wasn't studied, he never disclosed that. At first I felt fortunate to have Dr Bednar as my oncologist, at the end I felt mistreated and it was a dehumanizing experience.
