I accompanied my mother for a pre-op visit to Dr. Remington prior to her scheduled Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. After waiting in his exam room for about 15 minutes the doctor opened the door, stuck his head in the room and stated that he had a flat tire on his car that he needed to get fixed...that he was sorry but that he would be back later. My mother, an 80 year old woman, was left to wait in a small stuffy exam room - in an exam gown - for ONE HOUR while Dr Remington attended to the tire on his car. The following day my mother's surgery was aborted in the OR due to complications. This was a blessing in disguise as it gave me time to do additional research. The Parkinson's Institute had NEVER heard of a surgeon using an "ear to ear" incision for this procedure, which is the only option that Dr. Remington offered. Standard Protocol is for two small incisions where the brain is accessed, which is much less invasive for the patient. They also informed us that there were many pharmacological treatments that should have been explored before this surgery. We have cancelled the surgery with Dr. Remington and will seek a second opinion with Stanford University's Parkinson's Institute. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone seeking surgery for Parkinson's Disease with Dr, Remington to get a second opinion. or at least contact the Parkinson's Institute who were VERY generous and forthcoming with information and explanations...which was not the case with Dr. Remington. His lack of professional consideration for his patients as well as his surgical technique for the DBS procedure is of GRAVE concern.

The office was easy enough to find. Everyone in my community knows that they are the absolute best in the field. Dr. Remington is very caring and thorough. The office staff are fantastic. Very friendly and helpful.
