While I was there, I felt like I was looked down on and not taken seriously by the doctor because it was recently necessary for me to go on welfare. I noticed that his tone was more favorable and less curt with other clients and he showed almost no concern or empathy with regards to my physical condition or severity of my pain. I didn't appreciate his telling me I was "lucky because you could've been paralyzed" even though I'm a divorced mother of 2 who used to enjoy playing softball/being physically active with my children, worked 30hrs/wk as Office Manager, volunteered weekly at my children's schools, was 1 yr away from obtaining Bachelors/becoming CPA & now I'm incapacitated & bedridden 20 to 24 days a month (due to injuries caused by a car accident several years ago). He did not understand/couldn't see that during those times I AM paralyzed. It was nice to see him treat his staff with respect though. The office was pleasant and quiet. I was able to relax easily while waiting to be called . I appreciate how quickly my calls were answered and not being put on hold for a long time. They were located in a safe enough neighborhood.
