I usually don't like male doctors for ob/gyn stuff, because they are overly casual but Dr. P was dignified , like an old-fashioned Dr. He did his job in a decent way and didn't give me the creepy feeling some other doctors do who do the "I'm your pal, let's joke around" type stuff. I had him for my Dr when I was pregnant with my oldest son, like 17 years ago. I don't know if he is still with Kaiser or at the new building, but he was very good. Kind, nice but kept a distance, which I thought was a good thing. I felt he knew what he was doing and really cared but his demeanor allows the patient to not feel like one is actually there for a medical reason and not like one is hanging out with an old college buddy, which is the feeling I got from a different Dr there. What happened with that is one time Dr P couldn't make it (I thought it was going to be a female nurse practitioner as their last names were very similar so I agreed and was sorry) and they had a substitute male Dr in for my 6 week post-birth check up and I couldn't handle it because the guy was too casual, like what I described so I asked to go to the restroom within 1 minute of meeting this other Dr and just left the building-lucky for me I wasn't having any problems with the healing from the c-section or anything else.
