I normally don’t take time for surveys or reviews. This is an exception.I have seen Dr. Saff once. My first impression was that his office is well staffed and efficient. Everyone was cordial and I was taken right back, as I had pre-filled my medical evaluation forms online. Brandi was polite and started my exam by asking a few questions and taking my blood pressure. She offered me a bottle of water and a snack while I waited for Dr.Saff, which I appreciated. Soon Dr. Saff came in and was friendly and amicable. We talked for a time, and I described my concerns, and he asked follow up questions. He was alert and engaged. He spent more time with me than most of the physicians I have seen, and did a thorough physical examination, which I feel is a positive sign of a competent physician. He is intelligent and clearly interested in doing his best with each patient. He was not only focused on my complaint, but noticed several other issues with my skin and respiratory tract which needed attention. He looks at the big picture, not just the immediate complaint.
Then, Brandi came in and performed my allergy test of 100 antigens with speed and competence. I joked that obviously, she had done that before. She said she had worked there for (7, if memory serves) years, and she enjoys working there, as Dr. Saff is a ‘good boss’.
Unfortunately, the 100 antigens I was tested for did not reveal the cause of my urticaria and hives, which occur intermittently. Dr. Saff admitted that he did not know what was causing them (another plus for honesty), but he prescribed me some different medicines to treat the symptoms and my other skin problems, which seems to be helping. He also prescribed a nasal spray for my post nasal drip and to help open my airways which has helped a lot, even though I went there mainly for my skin. He recommended I see a competent dermatologist, and recommended someone he said he would feel comfortable taking his family too. That was reassuring, since the last dermatologist I saw spent less than 5 minutes with me and did not address my problems as expected. Dr. Saff even looked up some chest X-rays I had done last year and wants to follow up by exploring my lung problems further. The office uses technology to increase the effectiveness of their patient interaction. Dr. Saff made a recording of his assessment and instructions, which was emailed to me, in case I forgot what he said. That’s a good idea!
It has only been a week, but I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Saff and his staff for their efficiency, competence, and service. Their office encourages feedback on their performance, hence this review. I wish more physicians had his sense of humor and passion for their profession.
I am looking forward to improving my health and quality of life with the help of Dr. Saff and his team.
