According to a letter from Dr. Bansal written in response to my concerns about charges from his office, I was required to meet with a doctor to comply with insurance regulations on treatment for sleep apnea through an Auto-CPAP machine. Space Coast Sleep Disorder Center made my appointment for Dr. Bansal. For his 15 minute consultation, I was charged $338.00 which consisted of a technician reading the information in my machine and confirming that I was using it as required (70% over a 30 day period). My attempts to discuss my sleeping issues outside of my Apnea were met with the common sense recommendations that could be read in any magazine article. My use of the CPAP machine was recommended by Space Coast Sleep Disorder, who made my appointment with Dr. Bansal, and my visit with Dr. Bansal took place in the office facility of Space Coast Sleep Disorder. When insurance began to charge me for the cost of my CPAP machine, although I had written approval for 100% coverage from the equipment rental company (Rotech) and 100% coverage was verbally confirmed by Space Coast Sleep Disorder, I was three months into the use of the CPAP machine. Dr. Bansal informed me after my visit with him that as "an independent business entity" with "no control or ownership" of Space Coast Sleep Disorder that he would not be involved in resolving my conflict over charges for the equipment. I am sharing this review because any person working with Dr. Bansal, Tony Stigall of Space Coast Sleep Disorder and/or Rotech (equipment rental) need to be cautious and aware that although you are dealing with one person for appointments, one office for visits, and have written confirmation of your insurance coverage, if a problem arises, no one will take responsibility or get involved to help resolve the problem. The business relationships between Dr. Bansal, Space Coast Sleep Disorder and Rotech benefit their companies, but not the consumer/patient. Quick to refer each other for business, but just as quick to disassociate themselves from the other companies when there is a problem.
